Take government organisations of Nepal and it won’t take you long to figure out the impression everyone has of their poor presence online. Now and then, you come across news of the government websites hacked and worst even news of misleading information provided by those websites as a result of poor updates. It’s time now government takes online things seriously especially because the online population of the country is increasing significantly. And here comes one governmental organisation that’s taking the lead on the online presence. Metropolitan Traffic police of Kathmandu goes on facebook officially to disseminate information about traffic and effectively interact with the public.
Launching a facebook page with their web information, the Metropolitan police aims to provide traffic information, related news and updates on Kathamandu’s traffic. I whole heartedly welcome this social step of the metropolitan police and urge it to be more frequent and responsible on its page. Kathmandu’s traffic is a lot hectic and many on the social network, “facebook” would benefit from this step. In addition to providing live updates, other important information such as traffic rules could also help lot of facebook users to explore facts.
I have heard FM and Radio programs totally dedicated on Traffic news that comes as of great help to those driving inside the valley. Hopefully those like us who are more into Social media rather than FM Radios, find the facebook page as an effective channel to explore related news and updates of the metropolitan city.
Hundreds of people have already liked their page! If you are in Kathmandu, I would definitely suggest you to go for it as well.

My suggestion for Metropolitan police would be, Facebook is definitely a good start to maintain an online presence but keeping in mind the objective it’s seeking for, Twitter would be better in terms of extending its social presence and disseminating real time information on things like traffic in areas of the valley! What do you say?
