Kathmandu Traffic Management Problem keeps on rising along with the rapid growing of vehicles in the city. One solution that has been of discussion lately to tackle this problem is construction of flyovers in the city’s busiest junctions. The issue was in discussion since some months and the government has finally revealed its plans of starting the construction of those flyovers within the current fiscal year.
The busiest junctions that will have flyovers according to Ministry of Physical Planning and Works are Kalimati, Tripureshwor, Thapathali, New Baneshwor and Old Baneshwor. Here’s one of the purposed designs for Tripureshowr crossroads. Final designs are yet to be prepared.
According to the Ministry officials, the construction of the flyovers will take around five years and are aimed to reduce traffic congestion for at least next 20 years.
What do you think?
P.S. Interestingly King Tribhuwan’s statue at Tripureshwor also should be removed as per the existing plans of flyover.
