Oops Late again! Had this been rewarded two days ago to mark International Women’s day it would have made more sense (or at least that’s my opinion!). As announced a month earlier, the Government has rewarded U-19 women´s Champion team of Nepal. Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has rewarded cash incentives of Rs 200,000 each to the members of Nepal team calling them national heroines.
The Nepali team had won ACC U-19 Women´s Championship for the third consecutive time in Kuwait this February. Baburam bhattarai handed the awards at his official residence at Baluwatar in presence of Youth and Sports Minister Kamala Roka. Nepali team coach and two officials of the team were also awarded.
Nepal had also been in international news related to Women sports after All Nepal Football Associaion (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa revealed that the football governing body plans to establish a ladies’ football academy soon to boost the nation’s effort to further develop football.
Glad to see women sports progressing in Nepal! This reward would definitely help boost up the team spirit as Captain Rubina Chhetri puts it in her own words – “This award will energize us to play better cricket in the future!“
