As constitution drafting deadlines are almost there, big heads of political parties have come to an agreement among issues of constitution drafting process. The meeting of big parties including UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have decided to opt for 11 province model of Nepal.
Senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, speaking to reporters after the meeting said that meeting agreed on a mixed model of state of governance with directly elected president and a parliament-elected prime minister, and with the supremacy of parliament.
The names for provinces however, are yet to be decided. They will be chosen by the respective provincial assemblies.
Here’s one 11 Province Model released by State Restructuring Commission (SRC) that was voted for by a majority of SRC members. Something similar could be expected in future! (This is NOT the final one that has been agreed.)
What do you think of the decision? What do you think of the country being divided into 11 provinces?
