Tilak Ram Tharu gave more than this personal best effort to complete men´s 100 m sprint in 10.85 seconds today here at London Olympics. He had set his best record of 11 seconds previously. Tilak Ram Tharu was the last player from Team Nepal to participate in London Olmypics and like other players; he too didn’t succeed in qualifying for the second round.
Tharu came in 13th position in total of 29 sprinters out of which only ten sprinters qualified to the next round heat. Leading in the preliminary stage was Gerard Kobeane of Burkina Faso clocking 10.42 seconds and the tenth position to enter the second round was Fernando Lumain from Indonesia with 10.80 seconds. Tharu was not that far from the trend to have qualified!
Tharu’s performance today wasn’t that bad comparatively. Fair enough he didn’t set any national records but gave the best he could in the game.
Sadly, without any notable achievements, this is the end for Team Nepal at London Olympics 2012. Hopefully, the experience our young team has gained will help them to do better in next games. Better luck next time Team Nepal!
