In another version of Miss Teen 2011, this one from republica, Astha Shrestha wins the title of this year’s Republica Miss Teen Nepal 2011. Some months earlier in the same year Archana Panthi clinched the title for Miss Teen 2011 – Brain and Beauty redefined. (That’s from Kantipur Media, I guess- Sapthahik being the main media behind it.) This republica one was the 10th version of Republica Miss Teen and was organized by Kathmandu Jaycees (KJC) at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi on Wednesday.
Astha Shrestha was successful in competing with 17 other contestants to win the title for Miss Teen. Girls between 16-19 years were invited for the competition and 11 were shortlisted as finalists from 17 contestants. The contestants were then trained for 16 days by Kunchang Moktan, 2009 Miss Nepal second runner-up.
Astha, 19-year-old who also won the title of Miss Personality from the contest is a food technology student from Balaju. View the gallery from the contest.
Paridhi Sharma from Shantinagar, Kathmandu and Shristi Saud from Baneshwar were declared first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
Pradeep Man Vaidya, CEO of Century Bank, Narayan Puri, CEO of Himalayan Television, Akhil Chapagain, president of Nepal-Turkey Chamber of Commerce, Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi and Lily Thapa, associate professor of Tribhuwan University and founder president of Women for Human Rights, were the judges for the contest.
Kriti Tamang Lama was last year winner of Republica Miss Teen Nepal. Other popular names from the contest are Priyanka Karki (2005 title), Khusboo Oli (2006 title) and Ayusha Karki (2007 title).
Miss teen, second largest beauty pageant of Nepal mostly serves as a gateway to the Miss Nepal pageant. Most often Miss Teen contestants are seen opting for larger platform of Miss Nepal. Except some, Miss teen contestants hardly grow on their title and platform. Another noteworthy outcome of this contest besides aforementioned popular names is Samriddhi Rai who was successful in bringing title of Best personality Award home from Miss Tourism Queen International 2011 held in China recently.
